B-B-B, 2023 Day 20

Cherry Hill, New Jersey

Thursday, October 5 – The long trek back started at 3AM in Sofia with a cab ride to the airport. Early flight to Munich, then a long flight back to Newark.

So, aside from immigration control guy in Sofia taking a disliking to Dan, airports and flights were pretty uneventful, no need for me to make snarky observations, which, when on public transit, is rather rare. However, I am OK with boring when it comes to flights.

In positive news, Stefan posted a few group shots from the tour to supplement my rather meager offerings for today!

It was a great time, both our independent travel and the tour. Group travel is a different animal and it has its pros and cons (and a few quirky personalities) but I enjoyed this group of people and seeing the sights through a variety of lenses really does broaden my perspective. Add to that a tour guide both knowledgeable and passionate about his country and you get a depth and color that is unavailable when you are on your own. For a country such as Bulgaria, I think it definitely was the right choice.

As always, the experiences far outweighed any headaches (even Ryanair) and just whets my appetite for the next trip. We look forward to attending a special wedding this weekend so this marks the end of this blog. Hope you enjoyed coming along for the ride!
