Hydra, Greece
Thursday, September 8 – Hey there Day 4, time for a transition. Caught an early taxi to the Port of Piraeus to catch a ferry. Ferry ride was standard (no rants), but I was happy to disembark after 2 hours.
The island of Hydra is beautiful, full of winding alleyways, scenic water vistas and no vehicles! Our hotel (B&B) is quite eclectic, but in a fun, whimsical manner (rather than having a Bates Motel vibe).
Great lunch at a taverna whose vibe matched our hotel, then a nice long walk along the coastline. Beautiful sunshine, reasonable temperatures and an ocean breeze accompanied us along the route.
We rewarded ourselves with a beverage overlooking the sea, then Dan relaxed on the hotel’s veranda and I explored the seafront in the other direction.
Since we had a big lunch we ate late (for us) with the Greeks and had a selection of delicious small plates as we watched the sun set over the water–absolutely perfect end to a delightful day.
Tomorrow, no reason for an early wake up, so looking forward to a relaxing day exploring more of the island.

Mastoris Mansion Hydra:
Great little guesthouse with just a few rooms, unique decor and fabulous breakfast. Christos, the proprietor, was extremely friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.
