Finger Lakes, 2025 Day 8

Claremont, NH

Sunday, June 1 – Ahh, all good things must come to an end and so it is with this vacation.

Hit an early Mass this morning then Erin & Dom took us out to a belated Mother’s Day brunch. Not sure how, but Erin found this place that looked like a complete dive — a tin shack adjacent to a boat repair and marina. I was ready to suggest turning around in the parking lot. We walked in and it was jammed with folks and not one of them looked like a tourist.

We were afraid we might have to eat outside in the wind, but a nice couple who were at a large table invited us to take the other half of it — as per usual, Dan then fell into a long conversation with them.

The menu was short but the food was good and the mimosas large. We laughed about how this did not fit our image of a trendy brunch place but looks are definitely deceiving — we greatly enjoyed our experience.

We then had to head our separate ways and, as always, the drive home seemed 10 times longer than the trip over. However, conditions were good and everyone did get home safely. Now it is time to attack the pile of laundry and figure out what is for dinner.

Major kudos to my girl for an excellent job of vacation planning. We had a wide variety of activities and she made sure it was flexible enough to deal with the couple of adverse weather days we encountered. She passed the test with flying colors!

And, as that old credit card ad used to go:

Hotel for 7 nights – $$$

Activities, restaurants – $$

Being asked by your child and her spouse to join them on vacation–Priceless…

Until next trip!
