Evora, Portugal
Tuesday, March 28 – Yes, good news everyone, Chris & Dan are on the road again, this time to Portugal. We left Claremont just before noon Monday, to take the car to the bus, through TSA and onto the plane. And, believe or not, Chris found little to gripe about!
That is, until I discovered the old couple behind me 1) talked loudly to one another all 6 hours of the flight and 2) determined that the “touch” screen on the back of my seat had to be operated in a manner akin to hanging pictures on a wall. Needless to say, there wasn’t much sleep to be had. The flight landed in Lisbon just before 5AM, so we got to know the airport a little better than we would have liked while we waited for the rental car desks to open.
Nevertheless, by 7:45 we were on our way to Evora, a lovely walled city among cork farms and vineyards. 90 minutes later we were strolling the ramparts and seeing the sights in warm and sunny weather (NH friends, not missing that gross, crusty snow one iota!)
Settling in for some light tapas and and early evening, will be ready to hit it hard tomorrow!
Today’s step count–20,011, 8.94 miles
Update: While eating our tapas, met two other couples from the US staying at the hotel. Had a delightful discussion about places to visit. Man, I talk to folks like that and realize how much of the world I still need to see. A nice end to a great first full day of vacation.

Albergaria do Colvario:
Roughly 1 hour, 20 minutes from Lisbon Airport
Lovely little hotel, with parking (rent a small car!) and a great covered terrace bar/cafe. Easy walk to everything, highly recommend.
