Italy, 2022 Day 10

Trapani, Italy

Friday, April 1 – A really fun and relaxing day. My knees told me last night that today needed to be a rest day, so I slept a little later and lingered over the hotel breakfast which was extensive (hey, new food pics 🙂 )

Our tour group then traveled via small boat to the island of Mozia which contains archeological digs and artifacts of Carthaginian ruins. Another excellent buffet lunch, and then the boat ride back and a visit to learn about the salt flats and salt harvesting.

Back in Trapani, we had a free afternoon, so Dan and I explored more of the walk along the seaside, meeting a fun group of Poles who told us all the reasons why that should be our next trip.

This evening, a large subset of our tour group got together for pizza and wine at a local pizzeria recommended by our guide (located in a former brothel for a little extra color). So much fun, so many laughs, a time when a group of people from all over the US join and just enjoy sharing a common experience.

A fine close to an excellent day, and another reminder of why I love to travel.
