Atlanta, GA
Thursday, September 16 – So, first things first. Today is our 32nd anniversary. Amazing how quickly the time has passed. Dan even remembered a card! It’s been a great ride, with many more adventures to look forward to in retirement. Love you!
As for the rest of the day, in honor of today’s 6AM TRX class, I did a Dawn ROTC workout board followed by a few miles on the recumbent bike. Then we explored downtown Asheville before heading towards Atlanta.
As for adventures, we stumbled onto the Dillard House in Dillard, GA for lunch. Turns out, you get no menus, everyone gets the same thing–a table full of huge portions of old fashioned southern cooking. It was quite a different world–I had to ask the waitress to identify some of the dishes. Later realized the menu was posted on wall on the way out. But hey, when in Rome….
Got to Atlanta late afternoon. It was awesome to see Erin after 10 weeks–today she presented at a conference for the first time as a lead author!
In honor of this and our anniversary, we broke out the bottle of 2010 Dom Perignon my work team had given me for my retirement. That, plus cooking a home cooked meal for the three of us made for a perfect evening. More exciting, we are here for a week.
Chris is in her happy place tonight!

Nice one bedroom in Midtown, 5 minutes walk from Erin’s apartment. Big kitchen, nice living area. Perfect for a few days stay. Had to pay a little extra for parking, but worth it not to hassle with street parking.
