Portugal Trip Day 4

Sao Martinho Porto, Portugal

Thursday, March 30 – Portugal Day 4. Started the day with a final jog through Evora, a place that has become so familiar over the past couple of days.

Then at breakfast, a woman goes to the beverage section, looks at the coffee, tea, juice, water and says ‘I don’t see any Coke’. She then insists Coke must be in a can, with a straw. She then sends 1st can back because it is ‘ too warm’. Like, does this woman go to the Hampton Inn and get cold Cokes at the breakfast buffet?? It is so good I do not work in hospitality because I clearly would be in jail.

Anyway, headed out from Evora and made a stop in Santerem, ‘the Gothic capital of Portugal’. Holy Moly, it was the church capital of Portugal–there must be 30 churches there. We hit at least a half dozen and even I was ‘churched out ‘ Poor Dan. We did have a very traditional regional lunch with a nice young waiter who said he spoke ‘a little ‘ English but wanted to visit the US. I know Americans with less vocabulary than he had.

A short stop in the walled city of Obidos, then on to our cute little Airbnb half a block from the beach! A stroll along the water, a delicious seafood dinner and we are ready to call it a night. Another fabulous day.

27, 637 steps, 12.7 miles, too many churches to count.
