Greece-Croatia Trip Day 10

Zagreb, Croatia

Tuesday, September 14 – Transition day, which means Chris needs to gripe about traveling with the public. Also, fewer photos. Now, please understand, I do this with a complete recognition of what a privilege it is for me to be in a position to complain, so take it in that light.

That said, I have come to realize that it isn’t Ryanair, it is intra-European flights in general. Being a steer in a cattle drive in the Wild West would be more fun…heaven forbid you have a small child or a disability, you’d be just another bump on the floor!

And one guy, no lie, took up an entire overhead compartment with duty free bags containing approximately 100 cartons of cigarettes— I am certainly glad I wasn’t the person who was supposed to have a share of that space, I definitely would not have been happy. I swear, air travel brings out the absolute worst in me.

Now happily in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, for the start of the second half of our adventures. In a very centrally located B&B run by a woman who very much reminds me of Anna Madrigal (for you “Tales of the City” folks), without the welcome joint.

Arrived in time for an orientation walk and cafe cocktail. Anna (actually, her name is Tanya) had recommended a restaurant and made reservations for us. She clearly knows her food, the dinner was excellent—better yet, you all get more food pics! 😀

We took a post dinner stroll around the local square before calling it an evening. Tomorrow, we get to do a more in depth exploration!

Traditional B&B in the heart of Zagreb, easy walk to everything. Tanya, the B&B owner and breakfast chef, is fascinating, she shared great food and great insight into the changes that occurred in Croatia over the past several decades. She also recommended two excellent restaurants and made the dinner reservations for us. Highly recommend!
