Greece-Croatia Trip Day 11

Zagreb, Croatia

Wednesday, September 15 – Into every trip a little rain must fall and today was that day.

Before the rains came, got in a really great run through the city as the sun came up and the city headed to work.

That was followed by a lovely homemade breakfast courtesy of Tanya our B&B host. She spent an hour with us talking about growing up in the former Yugoslavia, then Croatia gaining independence only to be thrust into civil war in the 90’s. She’s close to our age, but what a vastly different life experience–fascinating.

Today was quirky small museum day–we managed to see four of them, mostly because they were all of a very manageable size —and all very different–The Museum of Broken Relationships (very eclectic), The Museum of Naive Art, The Museum of the City of Zagreb and the Chocolate Museum.

The rains came around lunchtime so we ducked into the first place that had seats under a canopy that looked reasonably sturdy. Turned out to be Italian and the food was good. We ate and watched the people dodge the downpour.

Got in a short walk before the rains came back and then asked Tanya for a recommendation for dinner. Once again, she came through and we had an excellent meal a short distance from the B&B.

A very satisfying day, despite the weather.
