Napflio, Greece
Monday, September 12 – Today was explore Napflio day–no travel outside of what we could do on our feet.
Dan got up early to catch the sunrise, then after breakfast he headed towards the water and I headed for the hills. The 999 steps up weren’t nearly as strenuous as I had anticipated and in 20 minutes I was strolling among the bastions. It was a fascinating place with gorgeous views which are not done justice by my phone camera. I am sure a person with real camera equipment and an artist’s eye could do a far better job capturing the beauty, but I believe some of it still has to be seen live and in person.
Dan got to the foothills just as I was descending, so we took a stroll together around town before stopping for lunch. After lunch he was interested in the archeological museum while I explored further around the coastline.
As I moved along, I passed the beach where the old ladies bobbed, moved on to the larger beach dominated by families and teen groups and finally, after another 20 minutes, discovered a beautiful little cove clearly the province of the young couples. I am sure they were delighted to see Mom show up
As the temperatures were pushing 90, I called it a walk and met up with Dan on our tiny little terrace to share some of the wine we had bought yesterday.
We had a nice early dinner and strolled the shops finding some excellent gifts for folks at home…though I keep wondering if they’ll let me take a cat through Customs…
