Ljubljana, Slovenia
Wednesday, September 21 – Said goodbye to Croatia this morning. Got in a good 3+ mile jog as the sun came up, then it was time to wave goodbye to the beauty of the Adriatic coastline.
However, Mother Nature had more beauty to share when we moved inland and back into Slovenia. Visited the Skocjan Caves, a world UNESCO sight and absolutely spectacular. No photos were allowed during the guided tour, so I grabbed a couple of stock photos from the internet. Still, they do not do it justice, they were jaw dropping.
During the post tour trek back to the visitor center, (about 2.5 km) we could take pictures and we explored a smaller cave, so those shots are included here. This stop more than lived up to expectations.
An hour later we were in Ljubljana, capital of Slovenia and a small city we loved when we first visited 4 years ago. Staying in the same hotel, there is a certain comfort strolling around familiar surroundings. Just took a medium walk today, tomorrow we will explore (re-explore?) in earnest. While looking for a restaurant for dinner, a waiter at one that was booked for tonight gave us a recommendation for another place. We owe him one, we had a great meal.
After more than 1,000 stairs up and down today (plus another 20K+ steps) going to be an early night. One more full day of vacation, then it’s the long trip home on Friday. However, as Scarlett O’Hara said, ‘I’ll think about that tomorrow ‘

This is the hotel we stayed in when we were visiting on tour in 2018. Nice rooms, good breakfast, excellent location. Parking was extra, but available right in from of the hotel.
