Ortigia, Italy
Monday, April 4 – A very full day in Siracusa. Started with my morning jog (got in 4 miles!) as the sun struggled to break through the clouds.
Breakfast, then an extended walking tour of the town with a local guide, culminating in a puppet show. Very big in this area but all I could think about was Dan complaining about being forced to watch his sister Nancy’s 3 year old puppet extravaganzas. I was quite amused.
Afternoon and evening to ourselves so grabbed some lunch and did a little shopping.
A couple of tourmates wanted to visit some ruins and a church across town so I joined them. Sights, frankly, weren’t anything special but we had a lot of laughs.
Was ready for dinner after all that walking and Dan and I found a family run place with some great seafood. Finished with a bit of gelato–delicious!
Tomorrow we head for Mt Etna!
