Taormina, Italy
Tuesday, April 5 – Started with a sunrise run in Siracusa as I did one more loop around the city to say farewell.
Then it was off to Mt Etna, where the weather was perfect for a walk around the rim of a caldera. Our next stop was at a winery where we learned about growing grapes alongside a volcano and had a lovely lunch/wine tasting.
Winding our way up way above sea level, we arrived at our hotel in Taormina, a beautiful little town.
We had some downtime to enjoy a drink on the rooftop terrace, then we learned more about the globe’s most active volcano from a most enthusiastic geology professor.
A quick orientation walk was followed by dinner with some fellow travelers.
Another full but fun day.
