Catania, Italy
Thursday,April 7 – Last full day of our tour.
Early departure from Taormina, so no morning run, just a quick walk through a blissfully empty main street. Arrived in Catania and spent the morning at the 1943 WWII Sicily Invasion Museum. No photos allowed, but we learned a ton about an aspect of the war never covered in our history classes.
We were on our own for lunch, but our guide suggested a place for traditional Sicilian fish burgers and hot dogs, so several of us joined him—delicious!
We then had a few hours so I got in a jog and explored a bit before our final group dinner.
Amazing (and far too plentiful) food and I laughed harder than I have in a long time.
Bittersweet as we had to start saying goodbye to people who will be heading out first thing tomorrow. Funny how you feel you will miss people who were strangers 10 days ago—sign of a great time!
Hotel:
Romano House Hotel:
Fairly generic hotel, more akin to one in US. Perfectly fine, good breakfast, not too far a walk to Duomo, fish market, etc. Near metro stop if needed (we didn’t).
