Florida, 2024 Day 5

Hillsboro Beach, Florida

Wednesday, October 30 – so, I woke up to find there was joy in Mudville, and the mighty Yankees were not swept. Set us up for a quiet but relaxing day.

It was close to dawn when I headed out for my morning jog. This time, I did not have to worry about being alone–dog walkers, other joggers, strollers, they were all out and about. Even a group setting up their blanket on the beach awaiting the sunrise smoking their weed. Went out a bit too fast, so I got back completely drenched–even though it was dark, it was 80 degrees and I felt it!

Nancy 1 had a full day of work, so Nancy 2 and I had a relatively relaxed day. A morning walk, laundry, a lot of reading and an afternoon beach walk.

During the afternoon, I discovered a few things:

  • Trying to wear a baseball cap in 20 mph winds is a waste of time.
  • I should not try to remedy #1 by wearing the cap backward unless I am trying to look like Goober for Halloween.
  • For 2 days in a row, I have not clued in that breaking waves splash up and get my clothes wet
  • I have become 80 years old, am always cold, and have already misplaced my old lady sweater 4 times this vacation, much to the amusement of my travel partners.

Went to Pompano for an excellent dinner, though midway through the meal, we had to move indoors due to a sudden rainstorm that blew into the restaurant.

Now, readying ourselves for Game 5. I didn’t think I cared about this series, now I find myself vested in the results–what is happening??

Tomorrow, Jillian joins the party!

Excellent meal, honestly better than I had expected. Sit upstairs in the open air with the view of the ocean — perfect except when monsoon blows in. Then move to bar!
